The Sew ‘n Sews

20150317_093006_resizedThe Sew ‘n Sews is a group of people here at Iotla who use their talent making child-size quilts or lap quilts.
This devoted group then distributes what they have made through the Macon County School system, the North Carolina Baptist Children’s homes, and through other organizations around the country.
They have also made prayer pillows that have been sent to Guatamala, and they made a large quilt (which is pictured below) that was sent to a mission ministry location in Vermont where one of our mission teams had been.Big Quilt
The “Sew ‘n Sews” meet in the “Old Fellowship Hall” every Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.  If you stop by and visit with them, you will witness ministry in action and see how organized they are.
They have quite an assembly line going as they put together all the pieces for these beautiful gifts into which they pour the love of Jesus, their own talent, and a concern for other people.
Iotla members who have had the opportunity to go with the Sew ‘n Sew group when they have delivered some of their quilts are impressed with the color and attractiveness of each one.
It is a blessing to know that both children and adults are being kept warm by quilts produced by the Sew ‘n Sews of Iotla Baptist Church.  Someone has fittingly described their ministry as “creating pure love with a needle and thread.”
Now if sewing is one of your gifts, or even if you have never sewn a stitch and would like to learn, and whether you are a woman or a man, you are invited to share your desire to minister to others by joining our “Sew ‘n Sew” group.  This dedicated group will welcome you and give you a job.
